Grupuk Surfing Information
GRUPUK - Has 4 breaks (2
left and 2 right) Smaller left
 on the inside east
shore, larger left on the outside east shore which
shifts around. A fun right on the western shore
which is the best on bigger swell, with a steep take
off section that tapers out to a full shoulder. The
inside section further inshore is a fun right-hander
also. All have fair wind protection and is best from
3 foot and up, but can be surfed when it is smaller,
the most consistent destination as it peaks up the
swell easily. Transport: 25 minutes drive and then a
10 minute boat ride.
 Inside Grupuk: Just East of Kuta. Catch a
bemo and then an outrigger canoe. There are a number
of locals who will sort this out for you. The boat
driver will surf with you and they all rip. The way
to go is right but you can go left sometimes. The
reef is on the inside of the bay. Good
 Outside Grupuk: As inside Grupuk but on
the outside of the bay. A really atmospheric (and
sometimes intimidating) place as the waves break
onto the cliffs and some can be huge. Righthanders
only. Good
The Gerupuk Beach
 A beautiful beach with a panorama of white
sand and calm sea waves and its sloping shore which
is very suitable for swimming. It is located in the
southern part of Lombok Island, only ± 67 km drive
from Mataram.
